Well, I know Ashley is an unisex name, but I still feel that it should just be a girl's name.

It's my name, but unfortunately I've heard of boys that also have that name and when you think of it's meaning (from the ash tree) it doesn't really sound girly anyway.

I think it's more common as a girl's name but it can be used for boys too. I know a guy name Ashley.

All right, so I'll give you the facts.
It started out as a English surname which derived from a place name meaning "ash tree clearing" in Old English.
It was later used for boys, and nowadays, is rather common for girls as well. Possibly even more common than it is for boys.
Some people, however, especially in England, still view Ashley as a strictly boys name. Myself included.
I think Ashley is lovely for a boy, and, no offence, sort of trashy for a girl. Doesn't matter, though. I don't judge people by their name.
