That morning I felt really different. I didn't find myself dreading the day, еще so not being able to wait. I got dressed, and got ready for the day. There was a knock at the door, and I smiled to myself.
"Hi!" I said, opening the door. My smiled vanished. It was Drew. He looked at me, very confused.
"What are Ты on?" he asked, stepping inside. My сердце pounded against my chest. What was I going to do? Blake сказал(-а) he'd be here around noon. He was probably already on his way! "So, Skye is having a barbecue at the park today... We're going," Drew told me. I nodded obediently.
"I.. Uh.. Have to get something first," I said. I went to my room, locked the door, and took out my cellphone.
"Hello?" Blake asked. He sounded really happy. My сердце ached.
"I can't hang out today," I whispered sadly.
"How come," Blake asked. He sounded worried; I bet he already knew why I couldn't.
"He's here," I whispered еще quietly. There was a pause.
"Bu---" he began. Drew pounded on my door.
"Hurry it up, bitch!" he shouted. Blake stopped mid-sentence.
"I'm gonna kill him," Blake muttered.
"I'll be ok," I assured him. Frankly, I was terrified. But I didn't want Blake to get himself into a situation where he'd get hurt. Sure, Blake was on the football team and he was strong; but I feared that Drew would be stronger. Also, Skye, Laken, and Blaine would definitely be there to back him up. "Just stay home," I pleaded. There was a long pause from Blake. Drew pounded on the door again; I flinched. Blake sighed.
"Just be safe," he сказал(-а) quietly.
"I will," I said. The door rattled behind me. "I gotta go. I'll see Ты tomorrow." I hung up before he could say anything else. I opened the door. Drew groaned.
"Are Ты ready yet?!" he whined, sounding like a little kid. I nodded. "Let's go," he said. I followed him out to his jeep, where we went to the park. This eased my tension a little bit; Drew wouldn't hurt me that bad in public. But when we got there, there was barely anyone there; and plus, we weren't actually at the park. The barbecue was being held in a empty field about fifty feet away from the park. I sighed.
Everyone else was already there. Including Briar. I slipped away from Drew and went over to sit by her.
"Hi," she said. She lowered her voice. "How was yesterday?" she smiled. I rolled my eyes.
"Fine," I said. I didn't want to talk about this now, just in case Drew overheard. She grinned, but let the subject go. Drew took a сиденье, место, сиденья by me on the picnic bench, and leaned back and let out a huge sigh. He kicked my ankle with the side of his foot.
"Go get me a drink," he ordered. I stood up and went to the кулер, охладитель that was by a small grill that Skye had brought. I grabbed two bottles of beer. Then I felt a red hot burning sensation on my arm. I yelped and dropped the bottles. Skye laughed, holding the hot metal spatula.
"Hey, what happened to your nose ring?" he laughed. I pursed my lips, but сказал(-а) nothing. He laughed some more. "That's what Ты get for being a snobby little bitch," he rolled his eyes, very much amused. I grabbed the bottles and handed one to Drew. I took a sip of mine, wanting to feel relief from this crappy Sunday. Then I started drinking еще and more.

When I woke up, I was on the ground. I noticed right away that around me, where ever I was, smelled terrible. I groaned and rolled back onto my back. I then noticed my head was not on the ground, like the rest of my body. My head was in someone's lap. My eyelids fluttered, and a hand gently moved some hair out of my face. I didn't need to see to know that it was neither Drew или any of his Друзья that was holding me.
"How're Ты feeling?" Briar asked. I could tell by her voice that she had been crying. I sat up slowly, trying to prevent my head from spinning. There was a sickly colored liquid on one side of me. I wrinkled my nose in disgust. "You threw up," she сказал(-а) quietly. "...While Ты were having a seizure." She sniffed. "It was pretty scary..." I felt my stomach churn and I put my head between my knees, trying to calm down.
"I'm sorry..." I сказал(-а) quietly. She patted my back softly.
"It's not your fault," she said. I sighed and looked up. Everyone was gone. I furrowed my eyebrows. "They freaked when Ты went down..." Briar explained. "Drew thought it was something he did..." I furrowed my eyebrows again. "Don't Ты remember?" she wondered. I thought real hard, but couldn't think of anything. I shook my head. "Drew kept hitting Ты and punching you. When Ты had the seizure, he thought he did something. He freaked out and they all left." I shrugged.
"Good for them," I sighed. My eyes were droopy from exhaustion. I yawned.
"Let's go home," Briar said. She helped me stand up, and tried to help me walk, but I insisted I was fine. We walked for a long while, until we came to my house. Briar stopped dead in her tracks. "You're moving?" she whimpered. I nodded sadly. Panic crossed her face. I put my hands on her shoulders, and looked into her eyes. When she gets scared, she can have panic attacks. Something I blame Skye for. Her eyes were huge, and she started to tremble.
"Briar, it'll be fine. I'd let Ты stay at my house as long as Ты want to. I won't leave you, ok? I promise." She took in a few staggered breaths.
"Ok..." she breathed. "You promise?" I nodded slowly.
"I swear," I told her again. She calmed down a little bit, but she was still shaking a little. "Briar. Just take deep breaths," I instructed. She did as I asked, but her hands were still trembling. I led her into the house and sat her down in the kitchen. I got her a glass of water and sat down Далее to her. I asked to tell my why she was scared; basic routine to calm her down.
"...a-- a-- and then n-- no one can protect me," she сказал(-а) in a mousy voice. I patted her hand calmly.
"I'll always be there for you, Briar. Ты know that," I said, standing up. I heard the гараж door open. My eyes flashed to Briar. She needed to calm down now, или else Dad would be suspicious. I looked at my shirt, which had some vomit splatters on it. "Stay here," I told Briar. She had her head in her hands, taking deep breaths again. I quickly dashed to my room and changed my shirt. I heard Dad and Kara come in, and exchange a surprised hello with Briar. I came out. They brought Hera with them.
"Uh, Briar, this is Kara, and her daughter Hera," I introduced them unenthusiastically. Kara сказал(-а) "hello" to Briar, who now just appeared to be very shy; not like she was recovering from a panic attack.
"I should probably be going," Briar сказал(-а) quietly. She gave me a hug, then left.
"Was she ok?" Hera asked. The tone of her voice sounded еще like, what the hell was her problem?
"She's just shy," I said, not looking at her. I let out a deep breath. "I'm going to go take a nap," I said. Dad gave me a bewildered look, but сказал(-а) nothing. I went to my room and slept most of the day.
The Далее день at school, Blake asked me how yesterday went. I told him everything, except how I had a seizure. Still, he was furious. He growled incoherently; his hands clenched into fists. Class started, and he stared angrily at his стол письменный, стол for almost the entire class.
After school, he joined me. Drew was nowhere in sight, thankfully.
"Irina, we need to do something," Blake told me. I furrowed my eyebrows. "I hate that bastard; no one should ever do that to you. I... I..." he balled up his hands again, and he squeezed his eyes shut. For a moment, I was actually scared. I took a step back, and waited for him to calm down. He sighed. "We need to get Ты away from him."
"Yeah, but how?" I asked.
"I'll think of something," he said, as he opened the passenger door for me. I hopped into his truck without another word. I feared for what he'd come up with.
