Why did Liam make Annie jealous? pretending he likes someone else?

There are two cases here: the first one (the one I want to be true), Liam still likes Annie so he's trying to make her jealous. I actually felt Annie felt something when Liam kept hanging out with Laura, so I really hope this one is true because I ship Lannie absolutely! :)
The секунда scenario: Liam doesn't want anything to do with Annie so he's trying to push her away by making it look like he's moved on. I don't want that- but it might as well be true... :/

Yeah , I'm asking same Вопрос over and over again , writers need to put them together already , they deserve to be happy :)
