The English language branched off of the Latin language, not the Egyptian language, for one thing. For another, when the English language was first developed, we knew little about anchient Egypt, if anything at all, and the sun would have been named before the Rosetta Stone was even discovered, considering that the discovery of the Rosetta Stone was fairly Последнее on the time line. Sometime around the 30's I think, give или take a few years, but I'm not too sure.
Also, technically, Ra was the God of the sun; the one responsible foe the rising and setting of the sun, not necessarily the sun itself. Like... Anubis was one of the Gods of the underworld, and the Другой мир wasn't called Anubis или by any of the other names of the Gods who were believed to rule it at any other time in Egyptian history. I believe they had a different word for the sun, although when Ты hear Ra, Ты know it had something to do with te sun.
Unless I am mistaken... I know a fair amount about Ancient Egypt, but I'm not an expert on it или its language although I do know my stuff...
