To me this almost goes without saying. Who wants to watch a cartoon/anime where the voices are annoying, uninspired, or not fitting the characters? That's the problem with a lot of English anime dubs nowadays, you can tell it's all scripted because the voices just sound like reading. That's boring!

Oh yes, totally. My prime exsample is Winx; the 4kids actresses put effort in and each suited their character so well and made if feel so real. Whereas in the Nick version they all sound practically the same, the voices don't suit the characters well, and they don't seem to put any effort or emotion into it. And that ruined the show for me.

And then there's Avatar the Last Airbender. Now the voice acting in that is stellar. The emotions sound so genuine. Iroh, Azula, Zuko, Toph, Katara, all of them were portrayed amazingly by their voice actors.

And then there's Grey DeLisle. That woman has played so many characters and is able to use such a vast array of voice tones and styles it's amazing. Some of her characters just sound so drastically different from her others. It takes true talent to be able to voice act how she does.

Good question. I'd like to see their reasoning, for perspective's sake.

OF COURSE! I mean look as AMAZING voice actresses like Grey DeLisle and Tara Strong! These women don't use the same voice for all the characters they voice, they are able to change their voices to sound different! I mean compare Tara's voice when she does Timmy Turner, Princess Melody, and Bubbles and if you didn't already know she voiced them you wouldn't be able to tell that they were voiced by the same person. Same with Grey if you compared the voices she used for Mandy, Princess Azula, and Frankie Foster. Jennifer Lawrence is a PHENOMENAL actress and one of the most talented I've ever seen, but she can't change her voice to make it sound differently from the other characters she's played. Or the voice actors that have done DONALD DUCK! I don't know how the original voice actor for him managed to come up with that voice and pull it off but it's even more impressive that after he died they got someone else who could do it. Voice acting requires A LOT more versatility in their abilities to sound different and not just give a good performance with their normal voice. Anyone who says that it doesn't require talent, CLEARLY has NO IDEA how much skill it takes! Even actors that are used to just regular acting think that voice acting is HARDER when they did it such as Ginnifer Goodwin (As Judy Hopps from Zootopia), Bella Thorne (As Cora from Ratchet and Clank), Ellen DeGeneres (As Dory from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory), and Tom Hanks (As Woody from The Toy Story Trilogy), just to name a few. They said that you have to say the same line SEVERAL TIME to find the right way to say it, even if it's something simple like "Hello." Plus you don't have other actors to work off of, you're in a room by yourself with the director with no one to work off of. You have to imagine everything for yourself. This OBVIOUSLY requires talent and anyone who says differently CLEARLY is WRONG! It's sad that voice actors also don't get as much credit as regular actors, even though they deserve it!
