Эй, Guys, sorry it's took so long to post this chapter but I do have my GCSE's coming up. My first exam two weeks today (eek!). If Ты live in America, GCSE's are big exams that we take at the end of high school. Don't know the equivalent for Americans. Anyway, I will try to post the chapters in between revision but I only have the story in note form and it still has to be written in sentences so I will try my hardest.
So here is the long awaited Chapter 17. Again, a bit crap but Ты know.



Charlie’s POV

“...and Jasper saved her. He was the one who saved her from the excruciating death that awaited her when she was bitten. I was not there because I was trying to track the Вампиры and kill them but tracking was never my strength. I am very sorry that I wasn’t there, Charlie.”
I was silent. I had just heard how my daughter, my only daughter, had been tracked, bitten and almost killed. All because of this moronic vampire she called the Любовь of her life. So the fact that she had almost died and didn’t tell was a big issue, yes, but I had another issue that annoyed me more.
“He drank her blood?”
Edward looked down at Kayla, obviously confused at to why I wasn’t exploding because she had almost died.
“Yes, he drank her blood,” Edward said, slowly. “But only to get rid of the venom. He didn’t bite her so the treaty was not broken.”
“Yeah,” Kayla said. “So don’t go starting any wars, dad. Remember that the Cullens agreed to stay off their land and not bite anyone.”
“And the Quileutes promised to not expose us and try to be civilised and not attack us,” Edward continued.
“Remember, Ты cannot attack them either,” I warned Edward. The boy was at his most aggressive when not fed. Bit like me actually.
“And we don’t plan to, Chief,” Edward said, brusquely. “So, now that it’s clear that Jasper did not bite her and neither did any other member of my family can we Переместить on?”
“I’m not finished here,” I said. “There’s still some other piece of information you’re holding back, Kayla. The barrier’s still up.”
“Really?” she said, her voice high-pitched. “Well, that’s all really. I got bitten, almost died, Jasper saved me, the end.” She laughed nervously.
“So if that’s all that happened then why were Ты afraid I wouldn’t Любовь Ты anymore?” I asked her.
She dropped her gaze and looked down at her hand, the one that Edward was holding.
“The vampire bit Ты there?”
She looked up at me and nodded.
“I did try to stop him. I did but he was strong and what Ты had told me about us dying when we get bitten sent me into a panic and I couldn’t fight and-”
“It’s ok,” I said, trying to calm her. The girl was near hysterics. There was something hidden that she didn’t want to tell me but I had to know. If only I hadn’t taught her that barrier trick I would be able to find out. “Whatever it is you’re keeping secret Ты have to tell me. I won’t get mad and I won’t hate you. Ты have to trust me, Kayla.”
She looked up at Edward who nodded, obviously encouraging her. Did she always ask him first before she сказал(-а) anything?
“I’m not going to say it,” she told me. “Because I’ll only tell Ты half and then run so I’m just going to let the barrier down and Ты can hear it that way.”
“Is it that bad?” I asked her.
“That depends on you,” she answered. She closed her eyes and the barrier fell away, revealing her secret.


Kayla’s POV

So Charlie knew. My secret was out. I no longer had to worry about Charlie accidentally finding out или someone else finding out and blabbing to Charlie. I did feel lighter, freer after Charlie knew the first part but that nice light fluffy feeling vanished when I revealed the секунда part to him. I didn’t want to tell him out loud because I knew I would break down and try to escape before telling him the whole story so I just let everything I knew flow through my mind so Charlie could see it all.
I had my eyes closed so I could concentrate on how much I told Charlie. I didn’t want Charlie to know that I wasn’t upset или worried или angry about this situation. If he knew my feelings it might increase his rage which I could see already starting to boil.
When everything Charlie needed to know was shown to him I still remained with my eyes closed. I didn’t want to have to face him. I didn’t want to have to speak to him about this. I just wanted it to go away and for Charlie to never know that it happened. It was better when he hadn’t known even though it did make me feel guilty.
Edward squeezed my hand gently to bring me back. I opened my eyes slowly and saw Charlie staring at me horror struck. Edward let my hand go and Charlie picked me up into a crushing hug.
“My poor baby,” he whispered in my ear. “How scared Ты must have been? Why didn’t Ты tell me? I could have helped you. Ты didn’t have to be scared. Ты went through this all alone?”
He continued to whisper apologies and such while almost breaking my ribs. I didn’t say anything, I just let him hug me. If this was how he was going to take it I wasn’t complaining. I didn’t want him to get angry at me and kick me out of the house. If he was going to be scared for me I wasn’t going to stop him.
He put me down eventually and watched me carefully. He was checking the paleness of my skin.
“How did I not notice it?” he muttered to himself. “And your skin feels slightly colder. How did Jacob not notice? He would have been able to pick up the vampire scent that Ты obviously must have.”
“Well, Jacob did smell the vampire scent,” I said.
“He did? But he didn’t say anything to me.”
“I told him not to,” I explained. “I wanted to tell Ты myself. I asked him to keep it from you. He didn’t do it to spite you, he did it for me.”
Charlie nodded. He took a deep breath to steady himself. He had just found out his daughter was half vampire and would eventually outlive him. Not that I wouldn’t have done anyway but this is entirely different.
“No blood cravings,” I сказал(-а) when he opened his mouth to ask that question.
Charlie nodded again. “Good,” he said. “I don’t want to have to tamper with any evidence if Ты go on a killing spree.”
I knew he meant that as a joke but it did sound mean that he would think I wouldn’t be able to control the thirst I’d have if I was an actual vampire.
“I didn’t mean to be mean,” Charlie said. “But Ты know how this sounds to me. I have to ask these questions.”
“Just remember I don’t know everything.”
“And neither does Carlisle,” Edward put in. “He is trying his hardest to figure this out. This hasn’t really happened before.”
“I trust your father to crack this, Edward,” Charlie said. “I don’t blame any of your family. I know Ты all tried your best to protect Kayla and that’s all I ask.”
I looked at Charlie carefully and was tempted to check him for a fever. Did he just say something nice to Edward? Where was the video camera when I needed it?
Edward smiled at Charlie to Показать his gratitude. What Charlie had just сказал(-а) to Edward had relieved a lot of guilt he had put on himself because of what had happened.
“I’ll just go then,” Charlie said, awkwardly. “I’ve got a lot to think about.”
“Yeah,” I said. “You go think. Just don’t think too hard, dad, don’t want to hurt yourself.”
“Very funny,” he said, while walking to the door. He closed it softly and we heard his footsteps going downstairs.
“That went well,” Edward said, smiling down at me. “Better than I thought.”
“I didn’t think he’d take it like that,” I said. “I expected a lot of shouting.”
“Sorry Ты were disappointed,” Edward chuckled Поцелуи my forehead. “I’m glad he didn’t try to decapitate me.”
“Let’s find that bracelet.” I knelt down and began to rummage through the утиль, барахло, мусор on my floor. I heard Edward sigh before he too knelt down to help.
