The definition of Аниме means Cartoon in Japanese. If it's Japanese, then it should stay that way.

just because some American Мультики look kind of like Аниме doesn't mean we automatically stick the "anime" label on them.
The people who made Аватар DIDN'T try and make it anime. They fully thought of it as American. Let's keep it that way.

No. It's a Western cartoon. Аниме is Japanese cartoons. Therefor,Avatar is not an anime.

Аниме are Japanese Мультики and computer animation, Аватар is American so therefore its not an anime.

in my personal lexicon (ignoring the literal translation of the word anime), Аниме is strictly from Japan. but i might call something that is inspired by Japanese Анимация like this "American anime" loosely anyways, with the understanding i don't consider it "true anime".

i am getting used to the idea of calling an american comic book that used done Japanese Манга style Манга though (the звезда Trek Манга comes to mind). so some день i might get used to the idea of American Анимация done in a Japanese style anime.

Аниме is made in Japanese and dubbed into english and other languages,however Аватар The Last Airbender is made in America and while the art is similar to Аниме it isn't one and I highly doubt the creators wanted to make it that way,the fact is while the art similar Аниме is made in Япония and Аватар is not,so it isn't.

of course it is. Аниме is just another word for animation. as an example, I was watching MLP:FiM on a Japanese site to see what they thought of it. it was tagged as 'anime' and 'overseas anime.' any cartoon is technically an anime. yes, the common English use is as a Japanese cartoon, but I really don't like it when people rule out every cartoon from ever being called an anime, because all those "stupid non-anime American shows" are called Аниме in Japan, just like a lot of people will call Japanese animations cartoons. they are the same thing okay.
